The leading superapp is now accepting new GrabScholar applications

Grab Philippines, in partnership with Bagosphere, is excited to announce the opening of applications for its GrabScholar program once again. This new cohort represents the third generation of Filipino GrabScholars since the program’s successful launch in 2023.

GrabScholar is a robust, three-pronged initiative that encompasses full-time college scholarships, bursary support for educational needs, and a career acceleration pathway specifically designed for aspiring Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) professionals.

The latest version of GrabScholar offers full-ride merit-based college scholarships for three- and four-year degrees in Business, Sustainability, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)[1] at any college or university across the Philippines. Additionally, it provides bursary support from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

With these enhancements, Grab aims to carve out professional pathways for the next generation of leaders in these crucial fields. The company is committed to delivering meaningful support to its college scholars by linking them with training, mentorship, internships, and potential employment opportunities within Grab.

GrabScholar is an integral part of Grab’s expansive GrabForGood initiative, which seeks to foster opportunities for social progress and growth among Filipinos and across Southeast Asia.

Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda confidently states, “I’m fortunate to have experienced the power of education through scholarships. As the son of educators and a scholar from elementary to graduate school, I fully comprehend the transformative nature of educational opportunities. Through the GrabScholar Program, we are determined to empower more young and ambitious Filipino students, providing them with access to quality education. We envision this program as a powerful tool to broaden their pathways toward achieving their dreams.”

In this latest batch, Grab will award full-ride merit-based scholarships to six incoming college freshmen and provide School Expenses Aid worth PHP 2,500 to 300 K-12 students. The leading superapp is also co-funding scholarships for a fellowship program aimed at 150 aspiring BPO professionals.

Among the scholars from the second cohort is Sophia Sy, a college GrabScholar pursuing a BS in Medical Technology at PHINMA-St. Jude College Manila and the niece of GrabCar driver-partner Mary Sy. Sophia emphasizes, “There are countless Filipino students like me determined to reach their aspirations. However, many face significant barriers in accessing the essential opportunities required to pursue their academic goals. GrabScholar has effectively bridged this gap for me, and I express my gratitude through my dedication and commitment to excellence as I work towards completing my Bachelor’s Degree – a major step closer to my dream of becoming a medical doctor.”

“Sophia’s narrative exemplifies how Grab’s positive impact on its driver community extends far beyond mere livelihood. It transforms the lives of their families, paving the way for brighter futures,” Roda adds. Sophia is now part of a growing community of Filipino GrabScholars, which includes 12 full-ride college scholars, over 600 bursary awardees, and 300 graduates of BPO skills training.
