Closer Look

The box comes in with a minimalist design; just a plain cardboard box with black font telling it is the ASUS VIVOBOOK S at the front.

At the back are the specifications and some features of the laptop.

Opening the box, you will find an instruction on how to make a laptop stand using the cardboard that is included in the packaging.

Inside the box are the following: the ASUS Vivobook S16 Laptop, Welcome Card, Warranty Documentation, User’s Guide and the Power Brick.

The Metallic Matte Gray chassis gives the Vivobook S16 a modern, professional look that blends well in both office meetings and casual coffee shop setups.

The ASUS Vivobook S16 keeps things simple but classy. It’s got that ultra-slim, lightweight build with a clean, straight-line design that just works whether you’re out and about or working from home. It may look minimal on the outside, but don’t let that fool you. There’s a lot of power under the hood that’s ready for your daily grind.

For the ports on the left side you will find, the USB 3.2 Type-C Gen 1 Port, HDMI 1.4 Port, USB 3.2 Type-A Gen 1 Port, USB 3.2 Type C Gen 1 Port (with DisplayPort 1.2 and Power Delivery 3.0), and the Audio Combo Jack.

For the port on the right side, you will only have the USB 3.2 Type-A Gen 1 port.

There is a sufficient number of cut-outs for the air vents of the Vivobook S16 to make dissipate heat easily.

At the sides you will find the audio speakers and to be honest they are loud enough for entertainment use.

Powering the Vivobook S16 is the Intel Core Ultra 7 225H. It keeps things fast and smooth. Whether you’re working on a bunch of stuff at once or just jumping between apps, it helps everything run without slowing you down. It also using the Intel Arc Graphics which is enough for work and a little bit of play. Plus, a 1-year free subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Basic.

With its large 70Wh battery, the Vivobook S16 can last up to 20 hours. Perfect for getting through a full day (or two) without always reaching for the charger.

The touchpad of the Vivobook S16 includes smart gestures that can easily turn up or down the volume and brigthness of the monitor, a 5 second video playback enabling forward or backward movements and a lot more.

The built-in webcam privacy shield lets you slide the cover shut when you’re not using it. A simple but smart way to keep prying eyes out and give you peace of mind. Also with this webcam, you can easily login through the Windows Hello infrared (IR) camera.

The ASUS ErgoSense keyboard of the Vivobook S16 is built for comfort. It feels natural to type on, thanks to well-spaced keys, a slight curve that fits your fingertips, and just the right bounce. It’s quiet too, so you can type away without bothering anyone around you. Whether you’re working late or in a quiet space.

The 16:10 FHD IPS display gives you sharp and vibrant visuals, and the anti-glare coating helps keep things clear and easy on the eyes even when you’re working by a window or outdoors. With its 89% screen-to-body ratio, you get more screen, less distraction which is great for work, school, or just catching up on your favorite shows.
AI LAPTOP?

ASUS is putting AI front and center with this laptop, and it’s not just for show. The main idea here is to make your daily tasks, whether it’s work-related or your usual day-to-day stuff which makes it a whole lot easier with AI support.

One thing I really like is the dedicated Copilot button. With just one press, you can quickly launch your go-to AI tool, whether it’s Microsoft’s built-in Copilot or any other AI assistant you prefer. It’s a small touch, but it makes a big difference when you’re multitasking or just trying to get things done faster.
Benchmarks
For benchmarking, I will use Cinebench 2024, 3DMARK Time Spy, and HWiNFO64.

Conclusion

When it comes to everyday productivity laptops, the ASUS Vivobook S16 AI Laptop is definitely worth checking out. From the moment I unboxed it, I could already tell this one was built for people who are always on the move. It’s lightweight and thin, making it easy to slide into a backpack or carry around without straining your shoulder. ASUS really nailed the portability aspect here.
Under the hood, you’re already getting 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB Storage, which is more than enough for most daily workloads. Whether that’s multitasking with a bunch of browser tabs, editing some documents, or even light photo editing. The laptop stays fast and smooth, even when you’re juggling a bunch of tasks. What’s cool is it has its own AI chip, the Intel’s NPU which handles smart features like image clean-up, noise cancellation, and other background stuff. So, everything runs better without slowing down the rest of your system. It’s a quiet performer, but smart where it counts.

Visually, the large screen-to-body ratio gives you more display area without bulking up the size of the laptop. It’s immersive enough for binge-watching series, and still spacious for handling spreadsheets or split-screen setups. Add to that the long battery life, and you’ve got a machine that keeps up with long study sessions, meetings, or just lounging on the couch without constantly needing a power outlet nearby.
Typing on the Vivobook S16 is also a surprisingly pleasant experience. The well-spaced keys feel familiar, almost like a full-sized desktop keyboard. That comfort goes a long way, especially if you’re typing for hours. Your fingers won’t feel cramped or forced to adjust.
But of course, it’s not perfect. Like many slim laptops these days, the 16GB RAM is soldered, meaning you’re stuck with what you get out of the box. So if you’re planning to keep this for years and eventually need more memory, that could be a downside. Also, there’s only a single M.2 slot for storage, which limits your options for future expansion unless you’re okay with swapping the drive entirely.

Overall, the ASUS Vivobook S16 AI Laptop is a good productivity laptop that gives you a lot without being that so expensive. The looks and feels are premium, but it’s still very budget-friendly, especially for what you’re getting. For students, it’s a solid pick. It’s got a big screen, smooth performance, long battery life, and it’s light enough to bring anywhere without feeling like a burden.
Sure, there are a few things to take note of. The RAM is soldered, so you can’t upgrade it later, and there’s only one slot for storage. But honestly, if you’re just using it for school, work, streaming, or basic editing, the specs are more than enough out of the box.
At the end of the day, it’s a premium-looking laptop that won’t empty your wallet. If you’re after something that’s simple, reliable, and just works without the hassle, the Vivobook S16 is definitely worth a look.
Just a heads-up, the Vivobook S series isn’t limited to just one setup. The Vivobook S16 also comes in AMD and Snapdragon versions, not just the Intel one we tested. And if you’re after something smaller and easier to carry around, there’s also the Vivobook S14, which is basically the 14-inch version and runs on Intel. So, depending on what you’re looking for, whether it’s performance, battery life, or portability. There’s a Vivobook S out there that can match your needs. Okay?
