Walking around the AGI booth during Computex 2026, one of the more interesting products on display wasn’t a new SSD or memory speed record, but a DDR5 kit that literally changes color based on temperature.
The company’s DDR5 Q Series features thermochromic heat spreaders that react to heat in real time. Instead of relying entirely on software monitoring, the memory itself provides a visual indication of temperature changes as the system is under load.

It’s a simple concept, but one that immediately caught my attention because it isn’t something you normally see on memory modules. As temperatures rises, the appearance of the heat spreader changes, making thermal activity visible directly on the hardware.
The technology is integrated into the module’s cooling assembly rather than being treated as a separate feature. AGI says the thermochromic coating works alongside the heat spreader, allowing the module to continue performing its cooling role while acting as a live temperature indicator.
In a show filled with LCD-equipped coolers, RGB-heavy components, and increasingly familiar hardware designs, the Q Series stood out largely because of how straightforward the idea is. It doesn’t add another screen or software layer. Instead, the hardware itself tells you when it’s getting hotter.
It’s not necessarily a feature that changes performance, but it was one of the more memorable memory products I encountered during my time on the Computex show floor.
