I got to see the ROG GR20 Edition 20 up close during the ROG press event at Computex 2026, and it’s clearly aimed at enthusiasts who care as much about presentation as they do performance.

This is an open-frame, modular chassis, so everything is exposed. Your GPU, cooling, cables, all of it. The structure is mostly aluminum, and in person, it feels solid and well-built, not just a display piece but something that can actually handle a high-end setup without flexing or feeling fragile.

The open layout obviously helps with airflow. There’s no traditional enclosure restricting heat, so components can breathe better compared to standard cases. That said, it also means you’ll need to be more mindful of dust and your environment since everything is exposed.

One thing that stood out is the flexibility in positioning. You can run it vertically, at an angle, or flat, depending on your setup. It’s not just for aesthetics. It actually helps if you’re working with limited desk space or trying to highlight specific components.

Cooling-wise, ASUS added a dedicated crossflow fan that targets the M.2 area. It’s a small detail, but it makes sense, especially with how hot Gen5 SSDs can get. Instead of relying purely on passive cooling, there’s active airflow where it actually matters.

The GR20 isn’t trying to be practical in the traditional sense. It’s more of a showcase chassis for high-end builds. If you’re into clean cable work, premium materials, and displaying your components like a centerpiece, it does the job. Just don’t expect the convenience or protection of a standard enclosed case.
